About the client

PriceSteer is an e-commerce startup focused on baby products founded by Trevor Ziebarth. Its mission is to help customers opt for the best prices on the market easily and quickly. Behind the scenes, PriceSteer has addressed several pain points typically encountered by online shoppers. The platform eradicates the time-consuming and often frustrating process of scouring the internet for the best deals. By consolidating price information in one convenient location, it effectively eliminates the risk of overpaying for products in the same category. It also provides a quick and unified system to compare prices, doing away with the need to jump from one site to another in search of the best offer.

Challenge

The client's goal was to develop a custom e-commerce solution that works with Amazon and eBay affiliate systems. It had to be integrated with Amazon PA API and eBay API as well as synchronized with the MailChimp subscription system for sending product newsletters. One of the most challenging aspects was to ensure the secure transfer of products between online stores and affiliate databases.

Solution

We assembled a team, decided on the technology stack, and then mapped out the development and management processes to fit our client’s requirements. During the first stage, the team developed the back-end and integrations; and during the second stage, front-end and UI were developed. The development of PriceSteer required a meticulous approach, starting with a custom e-commerce solution that could work flawlessly with the Amazon and eBay affiliate systems. This challenge was met through the integration with Amazon PA API and eBay API. Additionally, a synchronization with the MailChimp subscription system was established, enhancing the platform's ability to send out product newsletters efficiently.

One of the standout features developed during this project includes a real-time product update mechanism for Amazon and eBay products, a flexible full-text search, smart product comparison tools, and an automated newsletter engine among others. Furthermore, the design of the platform was built to be mobile-friendly, recognizing the importance of accessibility and convenience in today’s fast-paced world.
